Troy Hobart and 9 mates from both Twin Fab and Eva-Ready recently left the colder waters of the South Coast, and headed for sunny QLD, destination: Gladstone. Armed with fishing gear, food and beer they set out on Noval Reef Charters for a whole week, in search of some tropical reef fish, and some time away from the everyday life, who wouldn't want to go?
The staff on Norval Reef Charters were very accommodating, and made the trip so worth while. Whenever a fish was caught - it was immediately cleaned and placed on ice - fresh as they come & ready for eating. The weather, I was told, was quite warm, a little windy but who cares when the fishing is going off !
Troy said the outside reef was pretty chopped up, and had plenty of swell from the wind, but the inside was as calm as a lake. Everyone caught fish, from small parrotfish to larger mackerel, and the fight of the coral trout being second to none. Species caught included: coral trout, red throat emperor, yellow fin tuna, mackerel shark, spanish mackerel, and parrotfish.
I'm not quite sure on the results of the getaway, but by the sounds of it I think the guys are already planning a trip next year.
